In this study proximate analysis, caloric value analysis and coal petrographic analysis. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of maturity (rank) of coal. The method of this research is the analysis of the proximate analysis method, the calorific value with the standard analysis of American Standard For Testing Materials (ASTM) and coal petrographic analysis in accordance with Coal Maceral Analysis, The Standard Association of Australian Standart House, 1986. Correlation between caloric value and value vitrinite reflectance can be seen in Figure 8. The increase in the rank maturity (rank) of coal is indicated by the increased calorific value in the coal samples analyzed, and the higher the rank of coal, the vitrinite mineral will provide increased reflectance. The results of the analysis can be seen that the maximum value of vitrinite reflectance is between 0.35%-0.55%, with the maximum value of vitrinite reflectance. Then it can be concluded that level of maturity (rank) of coal is in the rank of lignite-subbituminous
