Abstract

Gold is a metal that has a high economic value obtained by extraction from gold ore. The method that is widely used in the gold processing industry today is the cyanidation method which is a hydrometallurgical process where the process utilizes chemical compoundsand is carried out in three stages, namely leaching,purification, and recovery. Factors that affect theresults of leaching include the solvent used and thelength of leaching time. This study aims to determine the mass of dissolved Au metal with variations in the leaching time of gold ore and to determine the optimum leaching time required to obtain the most mass of dissolved Au metal. Leaching was carried out using aqua regia HCl:HNO3 ratio (1:3) and various leaching times of 15, 45, 90, and 180 minutes. The leached filtrate was then analyzed using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) instrument. The results of this study obtained the mass of dissolved Au metal sequentially, namely 3,914 x 10-5 gr, 3.450 x 10-5 gr,4.148 x 10-5 gr, 3,522 x 10-5.and recovery mass ofdissolved Au metal sequentially,namely,0,40%.0,36,%0,43,% 0.36,%.The data from this study shows that the most optimal leaching time for thehydrometallurgical process in gold ore is 90 minutes.
