Abstract

Blasting activities have a negative impact on the surrounding environment, one of the negative impacts caused by blasting activities is ground vibration. This study aims to determine, the effect of the amount of explosives used on the resulting ground vibration and comparison of ground Actual vibration with prediction. This research was conducted at the location of PT. Sims Jaya East Kalimantan (115 ° 51 '00" East - 115 ° 56' 00" East and 01 ° 50 '00 "East - 01 ° 57' 02" East). Data research in the form of blasting geometry and ground vibration measurements which are then processed with statistical calculations based on the formula R.L.Ash, calculation of Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) and constant value using USBM Oriard’ Formula. The output of this study showsthat ground vibration are strongly influenced by the amount of explosives used for the Powder Factor (PF) of 0.18 with a total load of 130 kg /hole resulting in PPV value of 11.8 mm/s while for PPV 0, 17 with a total load of 122 kg/hole the value of PPV produced 5.1 mm/s, so the greater the amount of explosives used, the intensity of the ground vibration produced will increase. Comparison of actual and predicted ground vibration obtained quite a difference with an average percentage value of 66.54%. From the ground vibration results obtained 5.1 mm/s, the value is categorized as safe because the value does not exceed the threshold value of the PPV standard applied by SNI, which is 12 mm/s. The detonation effect caused by the critical slope area related to the PF used at the SM-A site is still following the blasting procedure.
