Abstract

This research was conducted in the Talang Durian area, Bengkulu Province, which is part of the arc face basin resulting from the subduction of the Indo-Australian plate under the Eurasian plate about 45 million years ago. The area has a complex geological history, characterized by phases of ocean transgression and regression, as well as tectonic activity that forms faults and folds. The focus of this research is to reconstruct the geological history of the area. The research stages include literature study, field observation, lithological and paleontological analysis, as well as stratigraphic relationships from the oldest to the youngest formations. The reconstruction of geological history is visualized in the form of a three-dimensional block diagram. The main formations identified are the Lemau Formation (Middle Miocene) and the Simpang Aur Formation (Late Miocene-Pliocene), with a predominance of mollusc-shaped sandstone. The volcanic activity of Bukit Barisan also affects lithological deposition. The results of this study reconstruct the sequence of major geological events that occurred and provide new insights into the tectonic evolution and sedimentation of the Durian Gutter.
