Abstract

Boron metal pollution is dangerous if not handled properly. One of the efforts to reduce boron metal pollution is by adsorption. Merbau wood sawdust is used as an adsorbent using the pyrolysis technique. The purpose of this study was to determine the contact time and optimum mass ratio of activated charcoal, sawdust, and merbau wood in degrading boron metal (B). This study utilized activated charcoal, sawdust, and merbau wood. 50 ml of analytical waste is mixed with activated charcoal and then analyzed in time variations of 30, 60, 90, 120, and 180 minutes with the ratio of mass to analysis wastewater (1 g:50 ml, 2 g:50 ml, 3 g:50 ml, 4 g:50 ml, and 5 g:50 ml). After that, it is filtered with filter paper, and the filtrate is analyzed for boron metal levels using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. This study shows the optimum time is at the 90th minute with the value of boron metal content trapped at 1.0663 mg/L with a percentage of 65.86%, and the mass ratio of decreasing boron metal content is at a mass ratio of 5:50 within 90 minutes with the value of boron metal content trapped at 1.5632 mg/L with a percentage of 66.12%.
