Abstract

If managed through mining, the mineral resources owned by Pattappa Village, Barru Regency, will have a mining life limit. If managed through tourism, they will not have an age limit. This potential is expected in its development. In addition to not changing the landscape or cultural order, it can add value to local village income.

Based on field observations, Pattappa Village has solid, massive sandstones with very strong characteristics. The residents utilize them as grinding stones and tombstones.

The main target of this program is to educate and provide skills in utilising natural resources (solid sandstone) into goods/objects that are smaller in size but more economically valuable and sustainable.

This program is expected to prepare village human resources and increase residents' capacity. In addition, it will indirectly improve their dignity and economic level.
